Centro Médico Teknon is responsible for the medical care and administration during the Barcelona World Race. Teknon experts are in the process of completing the final preparations before the event begins. Now that the 30 participants in this year's race have been given a medical check-ups, the specialists at the Teknon Emergency Service, under the management of Dr. Francesc Bonet, will be providing training for the skippers this week.

This elite competition, held under extreme conditions, demands in addition to outstanding psychological and physical abilities comprehensive preparation and appropriate health care knowledge. For Dr. Bonet, Director of the Teknon Emergency Service and himself an experienced sailor, a condition which on dry land could be dealt with by means of a simple painkiller, could on a non-stop crossing become a serious problem.
